Phenomenal! Not only was the smog check itself fast, but they also send the information directly to the DMV. I got my smog check this afternoon and was able to register my car on-line this evening. No DMV. I went during lunch, so they said it would take a half hour. I'm not sure exactly how long it took because I went to an amazing Mexican place a couple blocks down on Pico: Gilbert's El Indio. If you've got a wait for your smog check it's worth the walk.

You get what you pay for right? That's the rule in (almost) everything around here. I think santa monica smog check and test only is more expensive than other smog check places. Definitely. It's worth it though. In the past I had 2 gas guzzlers that needed smog checks every year, and I always came here and they took care of it without problem. Now I have a greener car that I could take to any smog check but I still come here because I know what to expect and know it won't take long. As a side note the manager (or owner?) Bob is very, very unusual but he is also nice and helpful.

Josh will take care of you, period. Customer care appears to be a priority at this service garage. The workshop is kept clean and tidy, and houses a friendly team of seasoned mechanics.

Ive been lucky and had found an excellent mechanic in North Hollywood a while back. I was really leery of taking my car elsewhere, as I feel pretty strongly about keeping your car with the same mechanic.So, it was with some trepidation I allowed my husband to drop my car off at Santa Monica Motors. Josh called me the day of my appointment, with the list of things that needed attention I already knew it would be a list, Id put some repairs off for a year. He was super friendly, super honest, quick to let me know what needed attention and what could wait. He explained what the screechy noise was belt and what it was going to take to fix it, he was totally clear on the cost of the parts and the cost of the labor...I really couldnt ask for anything better. Also- they gurantee their work for 2 years, or 20,000 miles. So my car is running beautifully as a 2002 ford focus is likely to run, and I certainly know that I'll be taking my car back to Santa Monica Motors next time it needs some TLC.

After growing tired, waiting in the rain for another test facility down the road to open, i turned to Yelp for the next closest station and this was it. There was no wait and Bob got the paperwork going right away and readily applied the Yelp discount when I mentioned how I located his shop. I waited inside for about 10 minutes, my car passed, Bob explained the results, and I was on my way. Quick, painless, fair price with the Yelp discount. Will be coming back here in 2 years when I'm up for renewal again.

Awesome service! Quick and painless. Mention yelp and get $10 off! Paid $55 total. Not a bad deal at all. Best time to be there is right when it opens of mid day mid week when everyone's at work. Took only about 10-15min.
