What's great about this place is that there are no frills, it just is what it is. No one really likes to get a smog check and this place is honest, straight forward. I was in and out in 20 minutes tops - what else would you want. I've been going there for years and it's the same staff and they give you a discount for being a repeat customer. No hassle, exactly what I wanted.

I love this place. First mechanic I've ever trusted. I will never go anywhere else-- once my little Honda was making a scary noise.. they drove it around, realized a little piece of metal was knocked out of place and they fixed it in two seconds and didn't charge me a dime. They are just decent people who do their job well and treat clients with class. I wish more small business in this country were like this.. I'll never go to a corporate place for a service again!

SM Smog was quick and the staff polite. I found a $15 coupon on Google. Only complaint was that I didn't have as much time to read the paper as I thought I'd have.

Quickfast, reasonable, courteous. Spent $55 (used the $10 coupon) and 15 minutes to smog a 2004. Bob and the Raffi (Tech) were kind and made the process painless. Thanks guys!

They have 2 smog checkers so they get people in and out quickly. It only took about 10-15 min TOTAL! And, we were able to wait in the AC (it was a hot day). (you will pay $55 or $65, depending on the year of your car, and $8ish for a certificate)

Just simply fabulous! Ask for Bob. They are fast, efficient, honest and all around great!

Good fast service. I was in a hurry on a Saturday morning, and they got me in and out pretty quickly considering how many people were ahead of me. Bob was very helpful.

I've been taking my 2005 Acura to Kondo Motors, but the last two times they haven't been able to figure out the source of this weird fan/whistling noise coming from under my dash. It was intermittent and never happened while under their care...and they couldn't figure it out. They also wanted me to get a few questionable services last time I was there...flush this fluid blah blah...my husband told them no.So I decided to try somewhere new... Santa Monica Motors...just off of the recommendations on here. I called them this morning and they took my right away. They have a 10% off coupon on their website that I just remembered I forgot to give them when I picked up my car.... will try calling tomorrow to see if I can get a 10% next day refund. The changed the oil, replaced the front break pads and called me later to say they figured out the noise problem... needed a new air mixer. Expensive part but they had it and it would be an easy fix. Eloy said I could leave it, but it would just keep getting louder and my ac/heater wouldn't work so well. Got that fixed too and now the car is riding great!!!I rented a car next door for $30 (total clunker and could have used some work by SM Motors) but it did the job and made the trouble of getting a car fixed with 2 little kids in tow very easy. Picked up my car at 4:30 and handed over the credit card ($660 bill) to Eloy a super friendly family guy who guessed my kids' ages right and also diagnosed my air mixer problem.

Came here for repair when emissions failed-They called around to find a part for our SUV and fixed the problem quickly. The price was a bit higher than other shops in the area, but still in the range of competitive and due to their honesty and helpfulness, I felt ok about the tad bit higher cost. Also, work is guaranteed and I like that fact. The friendliness and clean shop was also great! : And if you need emissionssmog testing, the guys next to them are great!

Good place. Not sure what Andrew E's beef was. Found this place thru a google search and saw a few reviews from either google or other sites on search. It was one of three places that I tried to call. The first place gave me the price, including certificate etc. Plus Tax. Called this place, SM Smog & Test. Got a fax signal. Hung up. Was dialing 3d place when SM Smog & Test called me back. Arsen, yes that's his name, gave me the quote. Including tax. They were nearby, I went. They did a good job and answered the couple questions I had (like is my score good or just barely passing -- since this was on an oooold but solid car). I recommend them.
