Bob is great and runs a tight, smog free ship. He had my truck in and out in no-time - and electronically submits all the stuff to the DMV - so there's no hassle. He does a good job explaining what the numbers mean and the whole test and payment process took about 30 minutes. They operate on a first come, first serve basis - I showed up as soon as they opened (8 am) and was first in line. I've gone to this shop for over 5 years and they are always affordable, professional and nice. Shoot, I didn't even study for my smog test and passed.

Great customer service (thanks Bob). He even had recommendations on where to eat/drink. Then again, being next to Daily Pint and Lazy Daisy makes it easy. A normally painful process was made much easier to these guys.

I can almost always count on them to do a good job,timely response, with reasonable prices. I also value their willingness to drive me home and come to my home to pick me us as a single customer living alone.

I moved to L.A. 2 years ago and googled Best Mechanics - found Santa Monica Motors. They really are the best: They fix what needs to be fixed and make recommendations with honest assessments of how necessary those repairs are, what the ramifications of doing them now or holding off are and are always professional. Once when they were dropping me back at home while repairing my car, the mechanic who was driving told me that the owner comes and does surprise inspections all the time - makes sure the work is the best it can be! The driver already knew we were moving out of state, so I have no doubt about his sincerity when he said that the boss always makes sure customers have an honest place to come back to.

Josh at Santa Monica Motors was very friendly and helpful. He took the time to explain the services my car needed and helped me to rank them in terms of priorities and how urgent each was. Excellent work!

Received great service and a great recommendation to go to the Lazy Daisy Cafe next door whilst I wait. The car was all ready for me when I walked back, and Bob explained what all the numbers meant. A few numbers were a smidge higher than the norm and he said it's because I don't drive much. I know, I know. You're shocked, right? And yes, I do live in LA, a place known for being notoriously spread out. Anyway, he suggested I take a road trip at least once every 3 months. Who doesn't love hearing that?? San Fran here I come!!

Santa Monica Motors provides reliable service, and gives a very complete inspection for safety and repairs. Moreover, when something may need replacement or repair, they tell you why, and leave the option up to you to do the work or not. If work is needed, they always give an accurate estimate of cost beforehand. The excellent crew at SM Motors keeps my car in top condition. Thank you for taking good care of my car.
