I'm the person who always go over the reviews on Yelp before paying for something. SM Smog Check had a very good review on the website and I decided to pick this location. I was the first in the queue and 0 minute waiting. However, it takes about half an hour to check and go over the car stuffs. Bob is a nice guy and explain things how to dealing with the registration. I will definitely come back for the outstanding business place like this.

I failed my smog test here.And I'm giving the place five stars.First-time smog experience as my car just turned six. Rocked up without an appointment and by sheer chance found this place: clean, well-maintained, and convenient.The legendary Bob, deservingly praised elsewhere below, greeted me. Made it clear what was required, how long it would take, how long it would take, and so on. Unfortunately, the technician started the car, saw the 'check engine' light, and said they couldn't proceed. Gimme a break, I'm a novice.Bob was not only courteous in this news, but genuinely compassionate. And he shook my hand. I mean, who does that nowadays? where else do you find old school service like that?A long and shitty registration renewal experience was made infintely less painless by Bob. So much so, that after making the requisite repairs my service manager sent me to another smog check station and I actually felt like I was cheating on Bob.But it was me Bob, not you. And I'll be back.

Fast, affordable, open a little later than most. Nothing fancy, but friendly folks. What else do you want from a smog check station?

I recently needed a smog check at the very last minute before my registration expired. All the other places closed at 5pm, while these guys go til 6pm. They happily worked me in at 5:30, were brisk, polite, and affordable. Nice guy at the desk too.As smog checks go, I couldn't really ask for anything more.

Management is quick to take my request for service in the morning - I waited for a phone conversation to end, but it was interesting to listen in - and to arrange billing when I picked up my car. The mechanics are friendly, too. I've been taking my cars to Santa Monica Motors for more than 20 years. Great guys! They've never steered me wrong on needed repairs.

This should be what a smog check should be. Drop car with technician. Go inside and fill out paperwork. Get Yelp discount. Sit down and wait for 15 minutes. Pay the bill. Thank you and handshake. Drive home. Great experience. Thanks Bob and Patrick!

Dropped off car at 8:15am on a Saturday without an appointment. Picked it up 45 minutes later with a PASS. Got some suggestions from Bob about my car (i have to drive more heheh). Payed for my car registration the day after. Could you ask for more? I was a little afraid that my car wouldn't pass and the re-test fee is not the cheapest.
