I am blown away. This is hands-down the happiest I have ever been with an auto service in my life. I have multiple raves: 1) Frequent, detailed communication. My car ended up being ready about a day later than originally expected, but the entire time I had the latest updates on the very-valid surprises that came up. I never felt in the dark about what was happening with my car. Bonus points for being so accessible via text message! 2) For years I'd been told by other mechanics that a light on the dashboard was normal, and that it was just trigger happy for my car. Turns out that this was not the case, and Santa Monica Motors was not only able to identify this, but also put in no small amount of extra work to fix it (and explain it to me in detail when I picked up my car and asked to learn). 3) As an 'thank you for my patience' for my car taking longer than expected, they fixed my broken headlight for free. I thought this was pretty amazing considering my 'patience' also meant 'extra unexpected work' on their part. 4) Very fair, upfront pricing (which my boyfriend helped me research and confirm). I hope to never take my car anywhere else, and will tell everyone else I know needing a Volkswagen recommendation the same thing. Thanks again!

What an easy and enjoyable experience! Who could have thought that getting a smog check could be so pleasant! They are organized, efficient, smart, friendly, and the office looks like a hip coffee lounge with internet access.

This was my second time at Santa Monica Motors for a smog check and it was great. Everyone's friendly, the service is fast, and the new lobby is cozy with good quality coffee. I recommend it to anyone in the area.
