One of the things I love about Yelp is its ability to recommend beyond the standard restaurant fair. I needed a smog check for my car, and I called Santa Monica Smog Check based on their glowing reviews. I arrived around 11am on a Sunday morning, and they got me in right away. The service here is just fantastic, and to top it off they had the Patriots game on the television. The whole process took about 30 minutes. Will definitely come back for all of our smog check needs.

After years of receiving terrible, indifferent, overpriced service from Honda dealerships all over L.A., I tried out Santa Monica Motors about 10 years ago. They have never failed to perform admirably. One of Karim's mechanics once diagnosed an odd engine noise in my 1998 Honda Civic as a hidden exhaust manifold leak ... after listening to the engine for only 5 seconds. Freaky. It was like consulting the Oracle of Delphi without the incense. They have also done great work on my 2006 Honda Accord. They always follow my instructions to not overfill my oil crankcase, which is a request I could never get dealerships to honor. Just today, they replaced a blown headlight bulb, including a battery removal, in under 10 minutes. There weren't even any repair slots available today, but they squeezed this work in between other customers' appointments during a lunch hour. Just try doing that at a dealership. My only regret about posting this review is that it might make it a bit more difficult to get an appointment. :)

Don and Ray at Santa Monica Motors are nothing short of awesome. I took my BMW in due to an electronics fault. They diagnosed the problem and worked on my behalf to get this expensive repair handled as a warranty matter. They then took the car to where this complex repair could be done and then kept the car for me for a week while I was away. The only bill I received was for the Smog Check that was due on the car (done next door and they even got me their discounted price for that). Can I give them six stars?

I highly recommend this place. The best repair shop in town. Don & the rest of the guys are awesome. They did a really good job on my car. Thank you for the great service!
