Just had new brakes and rotors installed. As always Santa Monica Motors does excellent work at a reasonable price and completes the job on time.

When I took my car in, it was obviously unplanned. Don & team took it in, found time to diagnose the problems with a full day of appointments, and were extremely communicative throughout the process. My car was in poor shape...basically an F if it had to be graded, but they got it up and running and fixed the initial problem enough for me to get the car turned in for a trade in (don't worry, it was just old and time for a new car). When it came to explaining the problem, he explained it perfectly in non-technical car talk for me to fully understand and make a well educated decision about what my next steps should be. I LOVE the reporting that they email you with + pictures (I haven't seen other mechanics do it quite like them). I will be back...hopefully without major repairs next time and only an oil change. But there's no one else on this side of town I'll go to for a trusted and honest mechanic who really does put the customer first.

Excellent customer service!! They went above and beyond to accommodate me and fix the issues with my Nissan Cube even though my friend and I pulled up to the shop at closing time on a busy day. Don and the other staff were friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. I feel at ease knowing I have found a reliable place to take my car in the LA area and would highly recommend them to any and everyone else!

I rarely write reviews but these guys went above and beyond in customer service. I had to get my daughters 2001 beetle smog checked before she moved to FL. The car failed the initial test and they told me to try driving it for 70 miles or so for the sensors to get ready. When I brought it back they tested it and it still would not monitor so they had to do a more complicated process which they told me would cost $150 which I approved. They tried a bunch of things but still could not get it to pass. They called and told me it would be about $900 to repair the issue that was causing the emissions test to fail. I found out from the DMV that if the car was going to reside in FL it did not need a smog check since it would be out of state. I told this to Don and he told me not to bother fixing the issue as it was not damaging to the car and was nice enough to credit me back the $150 for the secondary tests, even though the work was done. Finding a mechanic who is honest and tells you not to do repairs that are unnecessary is invaluable, finding one that refunds you for work done out of consideration for your circumstances it priceless. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough, great communication, great customer service, courteous and extremely professional. I would not go anywhere else in the future with my cars

Congenial, fast, wi-fi in the waiting room, and my car passed the smog test. What more could you ask for?
